#3 - Game Design

Introduction:

Unfortunately, no one in this group is an expert in Game Design, but thankfullly we have some talented people all over the Internet publishing awesome (free or paid) packs so we can build our game.

But the first thing we thought when we received the challenge to create a game, was to create a 2D game in Pixel-Art because it brings the flavour of nostalgia, due to the games that people used (and still continue) to play from the 80's and 90's.

Inspirations:

The first thing that came to my mind while we were planning about the game design, was the game Prince of Persia (1990) that I used to play when I was a kid, and it was probably the first game I played in my life. I was born 4 years after the launch of this game, but I had the opportunity to play it on the first computer I ever had, and it brings me some good memories.

I was so fascinated with this game back then, that my dream was to create a game like that, so I thought it would be interesting to create something similar with my team, now that I have the tools for that, even knowing that 20 years ago it was really  difficult to create such an incredible game. Thank God for Unity.

Evolution (First Step)

While we were trying to create the game design, our first attempt was to download a bunch of sprites, and spread every single one all over the levels, like any amateur does, but unfortunatelly, our first design  didn't look appealing, and it was too far from our inspirations:

Evolution (Second and last attempt):

We decided to take the game design to the next level, we implemented a totally new design, with the same concept of course, and we downloaded pretty awesome packs, and we added simplicity to the design, using some nice platforms to bring some nostalgia to the game.
